McKinney Mini Sessions {McKinney Photographer}

Oh my goodness...last week's mini sessions were sooo much fun. Five beautiful girls dressed in ADORABLE clothes! These moms were the perfect example of dressing your children for fabulous pictures. These girls were all so sweet and just a joy to work with.

Here are a few sneak peeks from the session....

Sneak peeks from my Red Vintage Couch Sessions are coming soon...

Fairview Wedding {Allen, Texas Wedding Photographer}

My partner and I shot a wedding on Saturday evening.  Lots more pictures to come, but this one captured my heart....

Anna, McKinney Christian Academy {McKinney, Tx Senior Photographer}

I took Anna's senior pictures back in August but only posted them on Facebook.  As I was going through her pictures today, I was struck by how many beautiful ones there were that I never posted.  So here are a few of my "other" favorites from her session in Adriatica.  As I have said before....I think there is something in the Texas water supply.  Such a beautiful girl!

Senior Pictures in the Countryside {McKinney Senior Photographer}

I had the honor taking Catherine's senior pictures earlier this month.  She asked me for a country look.  We found a great ranch and got permission to use it for the pictures.  This was the storyboard her mom ordered for the pictures.  I thought it was a great selection of her pictures to share on my blog.  Have a great senior year Catherine!

Abbie and Spencer {McKinney Photographer}

Last month I had the honor of photographing the wedding of an amazing woman.  She has to be the most laid-back bride I have ever seen (certainly nothing like I was - but that is another story).  Abbie and Specer's wedding was at a wonderful little bed and breakfast in Clarksville, Texas.  They rented out the entire facility for guests to come and stay.  She was not only the bride, but a wonderful hostess to her guests.  Abbie was tons of fun (as you can see in the pictures) as well.  She is also naturally beautiful and made a stunning bride.

One last note for all the horried car owners out there...the shoe polish on the truck was immediately discovered by Abbie's sister and quickly washed off.  But not before I snapped that picture - whew!

 Blessings on your marriage Abbie and Spencer!

Brittany and Christian {McKinney, Adriatica Photographer}

Once again I am behind on blogging.  I did a session with this beautiful couple over a month ago.  When I was trying to decide what to post today, I just kept coming back to them.  Brittany and Christian wanted photos to celebrate his graduation from boot camp.  They are a precious young couple and I really enjoyed my time with them.  Thank you Christian for serving our country!

Fun pictures for a fun couple......

Don't Wait...Seize the Day {McKinney, Frisco Photographer}

The fall season is my busiest time of year with families booking sessions for Christmas cards.  And yet...there are so many who don't.  It gets me to thinking every year and I want to share a story with you.

When I was 22, my father died of cancer.  There isn't a day that has gone by over the last 20 years that I don't think of him at least once.  My parents left me with NO family pictures.  NONE!.  I did have one taken with my parents when I was 14 years old, had braces, a horrible haircut, and just looked gawky.  I love that picture because it is the only one with my parents but I hate it because I looked soooo bad.  However, we have no pictures with my brother and sister in them with our parents.  Why did they do that? They just didn't think they had the money and who knew he would die at age 56?

Many people think they are ok because they take tons of pictures themselves.  I have to tell you that snapshots are not enough.  You can't hang them on the wall and usually you don't get your entire family in a snap shot.  If you do, the quality is not great and tends to deteriorate through the years.

I didn't write this blog to depress you, but I do want you to think.  Family pictures aren't a luxury.  They are a MUST for your children.  It isn't about "us" as parents....it is about our kids.  They may not care today about looking at those pictures, but believe me in 20 years, they will care.  Especially if the unthinkable happens and one of their parents is no longer there to look at the pictures with them.

Why do we not get pictures? I hear excuses all the time...

"I need to lose weight first"
"With this economy we don't have the money"
"My husband hates taking pictures"
"With sports we are just too busy"
"Next year for sure...."

I want to address these very quickly.

First, your kids could care less how much you weigh.  When they look back on your family pictures, I can guarantee you they will not say "wow I wish mom had lost 20 pounds for that picture!"  They will just be thankful to have pictures of you from that time.  As mom, you are beautiful no matter what to your kids.

I have tried to help you by creating a solution for the other excuses.  I offer mini sessions that take only 15-20 minutes.  The cost is $55 and includes an 8x10.  Even dad can sit for 10 minutes to take a few pictures.  For just $55 you can walk away with a print to cherish forever.  If you simply can't afford more, that is ok.  I do offer payment plans if you want more but can't get them all at once.

I want you to understand that I am not writing this to get you to book pictures with me.  If this blog inspires you to get family pictures and you go to another photographer, I am happy that you just protected your memories with someone.

If you would like me to take your pictures this year (and I would sure love it if you would :-)), I am offering several sets of mini session that should appeal to everyone.

Birthday Pictures in Adriatica {McKinney, Adriatica Photographer}

Wow it has been a long time since I have updated my blog.  The two weeks before school started, I was slammed with seniors wanting their pictures taken.  Then I have been so busy processing the photos, that I haven't taken the time to update the blog.  I finished a composite print order for a mother today and realized I never posted her daughter's pictures (along with all the seniors for that matter).  I thought I would get back into blog mode by posting the composite I just finished.  She is a beautiful little girl that just turned 9.  I really enjoyed our birthday mini-session together last month!

Having Fun in Adriatica {McKinney, Adriatica Photographer}

I had the honor of photographing Vince and Autumn last week. One of the ways I love to give back is to donate my time and talents to missionaries and others sacrificing personal comforts to serve Christ. Vince and Autumn serve as missionaries for Campus Crusade for Christ. They were nominated months and months ago and we were finally able to connect to take their pictures. They are such a precious couple and I really enjoyed my time with them. We had a great time playing in Adriatica and got some fun and artsy pictures. Thanks guys for a fun morning and for having fun with me!

Allen High School Football Player {Adriatica Photographer}

Being a mother of two boys, I really enjoy doing senior pictures for the guys.  I know they don't really want to be there and they are doing it for their mom.  However, I know that if I can capture some really cool pictures for them, they will like them in the end.  Last week I was thrilled to get to take senior pictures for one of Allen High School's great football players.  I loved working with Matt because he was easy to get along with and willing to try anything.  I just wish we had remembered the football!

Matt is also one of my senior reps for Allen High School.  If you attend Allen High, be sure to look Matt up and grab one of his rep cards.  You get extra goodies with your session if you present it to me when you schedule your senior pictures.

Three Little Cuties! {McKinney Photographer}

Earlier this week I had the opportunity to photograph a sweet family of children.  Mom warned me that she can't ever get them to all look at her at the same time for a picture.  It took every trick in the book but I got some smiles and looks in my direction.  I couldn't resist throwing in a couple of the "out-takes".  As a mom...these are the pictures I want to remember.  The perfect smiles and looks at the camera are not really reality.  I love reality...so I have added a couple of reality pictures.  I think they are adorable!

And here was the reality of the day....(gotta love it - it looks alot like my kids and picture taking day!)

Allen High School Senior Rep

Meet Samantha, the first of my 2011 Senior Reps.  She will be graduating with the Class of 2011 from Allen High.  I had such a great time with this beautiful young lady.  She was a photographers dream.  She is a natural in front of the camera - and best of all, she came armed with fabulous clothes, a box of shoes, and all of the accessories.  Now that is a girl after my own heart!  We just switched out shoes and rings and tops as we felt like it through the session.  So much fun! If you are a senior at Allen High School this year, find Samantha, get her rep card, and bring it to me when you schedule your session.  My reps are the keys to the goodies!

I had too many pictures to choose from, so I just had fun with this sneak peak.  I hope you love your pictures Samantha.  The camera loves you!

I wanted to end with a couple of pictures with a retro finish on them...

Downtown McKinney Senior Pictures

So downtown McKinney is one of my all time favorite places to take pictures of seniors.  I just realized that I have been so busy, there are quite a few sessions I never posted sneak peaks for.  While they have long seen their pictures, I wanted to post a few of my past sessions.  I love taking pictures of the senior guys because I love to see the relief wash over their faces when I tell them that they don't have to smile.  Then I let them know we need a few smiles for mom - but it is ok to take pictures looking like a magazine ad - serious looks and all.  They like that and I find the smiles I get tend to be geniune.  Glad I have boys at home...it helps me understand them and what makes them tick!  These were pictures from two recent sessions.  Gotta love downtown - it is just made for guy pictures!

A Beautiful Morning at the Park {McKinney, Allen Photographer}

On Friday morning I enjoyed meeting a lovely young lady.  Miss M. needed some updated photos of herself.  When I asked her why she wanted them, she told me that she didn't really have any pictures that she liked.  We had a wonderful time at my favorite park and I would say that she should have plenty of photos to choose from.  Miss M. is beautiful inside and out and I am so blessed to have spent some time with her.

A Day at the Tracks {Frisco, Plano Photographer}

Last week I thoroughly enjoyed myself with the "B" family.  They told me they were artsy and willing to try anything different for their pictures.  What a photographer's dream!  We took a few traditional shots, but of course I am not choosing to show those here.  We spent alot of time playing and having fun with different settings and using the elements of the location we chose for the pictures.  Here was the craziest part of the session:  it was at least 100 degrees outside and I was so hot I had sweat literally dripping in my eyes.  This family was dressed in jeans, boots, and long sleeves; the girls had long thick hair; and at the end of the session they all looked as fresh as when they arrived.  CRAZY!  I don't know how they pulled that off, but somehow they did.  We had fun together and I think it shows!

Wait until you see the last picture.  I have to say for the record that the sky in that picture is really the sky that was there that night.  That is not a faked photo-shopped sky.  I think it is one of the most stunning skies ever!

Kid's Day in McKinney

Last night I had a great time taking pictures at the Pinnacle Eye Associates annual Kid's Day.  Radio Disney was there, Sidekicks Marshall Arts did demonstrations, Hula Hoop contests were in full swing, and lots of sponsors provided cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, crafts, cookies, etc.  I thought I would put a few of the fun shots I took on my blog. Thank you Dr. Alfieri for asking me to take pictures.  It was a blast! (And if you live in the McKinney area...go and see Dr. Alfieri at Pinnacle Eye Associates and try a free class at Sidekicks Marshall Arts.  They are top notch businesses and will give you great service)

Oh...the theme was Alice in Wonderland.  I thought that might explain the costumes the Dr. and her staff are wearing in the last picture. :-)

One more of baby Joshua...{McKinney Photographer}

I had to post one more of sweet baby Joshua and his mom. What a precious moment in time....

Sweet Baby Joshua

I have once again lagged behind on my blog posting.  I somehow contracted a very severe eye infection which kept me from doing any photo sessions or editing for two weeks.  Now I am playing catch up on my sessions and the blog seems to be falling more and more behind.  I took these pictures of sweet baby Joshua last week.  I have to say he was the easiest baby I have ever photographed.  He went to sleep and that was it.  He didn't care where I put him or how I moved him.  If he started to wake up, all I had to do was stroke his little head and he went right back to sleep.  His mom provided a beautiful room for him.  I could have spent hours there taking pictures in different settings, but, alas...he finally did wake up.  These were my favorites....

The W Family in Downtown McKinney {McKinney, Allen photographer}

Earlier this week, I had a wonderful time with the "W" family in downtown McKinney.  First...downtown McKinney is hands down my favorite location to take photos.  Second...being a mom of two boys, I love to work with families of boys.  I guess I just relate to them and I enjoy hanging out with them.  Third...the youngest boy is a classmate of my son.  When I already know a family a little bit, it is much more fun to do the pictures.  We had a great time together.  The boys are respectful and nice, they had great ideas, and they went with the flow.  Kudos mom and dad on raising great kids!

I decided to go a little vintage with most of the pictures for this blog. The backgrounds and textures of the old buildings just seemed to call out for a more muted, vintage tone.

All Grown Up and Moving On! {Frisco, Plano Photographer}

Last week I had my last session for the 2010 seniors.  Miss M. just returned from her graduation trip abroad and was ready to have her senior pictures taken.  She was not only beautiful, but a delight to be around.  I loved how politely she spoke to her mom and her gentle spirit.  I had a hard time narrowing down my favorite pictures, so I had to share more than normal.   I was melted from the heat by the end of the session and she still looked fabulous!  Enjoy!
