Fashion Trend - The Cut Out Dress - Modest Senior Style

I have found the Cut Out Dress to be one of the growing fashion rages to wear for senior pictures.  I LOVE the fun and whimsical style of the Cut Out Dress, BUT, it can be a little risqué.  Every senior who comes to me for their senior portraits know that I am all about modesty.  As a mom of boys...I know how their minds work even though most of us girls are clueless.

I want to show a few different Cut Out Dress styles that embrace the trend by keeping it classy and fun without crossing the modesty line.

Grace - Plano West Senior High Class of 2015 {Plano Senior Photography}

We weren't sure we were going to get Grace's session in before graduation!  Day after day of rain made it almost impossible to schedule her session.  We finally had a pretty day and crossed our fingers that the sun would stay!

Grace's brother surprised her at her session to take a sibling photo in their Texas Tech shirts!  It was so fun to see him as we did his senior pictures a few years ago.

Grace is such a beautiful and fun girl.  I loved her sense of style and playful fun!

Fashion Trend - High Waisted Shorts - How to Wear Them for Maximum Style

High-waisted shorts are a hot fashion trend for the summer of 2015.  Personally, I love this style and can't wait to get a pair - but there are some keys to making this fashion statement work for you. Of course, I am always thinking in terms of what will look amazing in senior pictures, but what works for pictures will certainly work for an afternoon or evening with friends.  Here are a few tips:

Bring YOUR Style - Making Senior Portraits All About YOU!

PASSION - we are driven by passion at AimeeLouise Photography!  We have a passion for helping each one of our high school seniors to express their passions.  What does that mean for you?

We meet with each one of our seniors prior to their portrait session.  We want to help you prepare for your session, but more importantly, we want to get to know you personally and find out about your PASSIONS!   Passion looks different in each person.  Some seniors are passionate about sports; some are passionate about their pest; some are passionate about fashion....everyone has a passion.  Ok...we admit...some of our senior guys are just passionate about getting their pictures out of the way to make mom happy....but we digress...

Sometimes our seniors don't recognize their passions because they look different than other seniors.  That is ok...we will talk through it and plan a session that you love...a session that reflects you...and most of all, a session that is an incredible experience you will remember for a lifetime.

Just to get your creative juices flowing....here are some ideas from past senior sessions...

McKenna, Lovejoy High School Class of 2015 {Fairview, Lucas Senior Photography}

I just love McKenna.  She is a (now graduated) Class of 2015 Senior at Lovejoy High School.  What I love about McKenna is that she is just so down to earth and real.  She lives on acres of beautiful land in Fairview - complete with four wheelers, a pond, lots of fields, and I could go on and on.  I could only dream to live on her land...it is a photographer's paradise.  Because she has grown up in the country, everything she loves has to do with the land.  She fishes, goes four-wheeling, and loves to hunt.  I had a blast with her coming up with the different ways we could capture the things she loves.  Here are just a few images from her session.

Seybrand - Lovejoy High School Class of 2015 {Fairview, Lucas Senior Photography}

Meet Seybrand - a Class of 2015 (now graduated) senior at Lovejoy High School.  Seybrand is an avid and extremely talented tennis player.  When we met for our consultation, I asked him what he wanted for his senior pictures, and he wanted to focus on tennis.  This spring we dealt with so much rain and sure enough, on the day of his session, it was overcast with a storm coming in.  We decided to change our location and do his entire session at the McKinney tennis courts to try and beat the rain.  It started raining for our last few pictures.  Seybrand looks dry, but when I got in my car, my back was soaked from the rain.  That was a close call but we made it and got some fabulous images!

When is the Best Time of Year for Senior Portraits?

When is the best time of year for senior pictures?  Each season of the year offers something unique and beautiful.  The decision comes down to the look that you want for your pictures and your school schedule.

SUMMER

Summer is the ideal time for senior portraits!  The majority of senior girls have their portraits done over the summer before their senior year.

Advantages of summer sessions:

~ Senior tribute pages are due to most schools in October.  This is the page that the parent purchases at the back of the yearbook to honor their child.  If you want your senior pictures to be included on your tribute page, you must have your pictures done in the summer in order to get them in time for school deadlines.

~At SENIORS by AimeeLouise, we include a custom designed senior tribute page with every senior session.  Not all schools will accept a third party design, but for those that do, your page will stand out from among your peers.  We need time to design the pages, and can’t usually accommodate a custom design for an October session. Our Class of 2015 designs are on the blog for you to look at and think about the design you would want!)

~You are out of school in the summer.  This gives so much more flexibility for your session.  We quite often do morning sessions in the summer before the heat of the day.  Morning sessions allow for locations that can’t be used in the evenings which will allow for your session to be unique.

How to choose your senior portrait photographer

So you are now officially a senior (or about to be)!  This is such an exciting time in your life and you want to remember it with amazing senior portraits that stand out – images that reflect you and who you are…and of course images that make you feel fabulous!
The most important step is to choose the right senior photographer for you.  There are many, many options available to you and it can be overwhelming deciding who will give you exactly what you want.
I want to start by clarifying a common question.  If you live in the North Dallas area, you do have to go to the chosen school photographer for your yearbook photo the summer before your senior year.  However, you do NOT have to purchase any of the images.   You can choose your own photographer to capture your memories.

As you begin your search for a senior photographer, here are a few things to keep in mind:

Sam - Lovejoy High School, Class of 2015 {McKinney, Lucas Senior Photography}

I met Sam's family when his older brother, Ben, came to me for senior pictures a few years ago.  Both boys played football for Lovejoy and both boys drive big huge trucks.    I love Sam's quiet personality that was willing to go along with whatever crazy idea I had at the time.

It was windy...and I DO mean CRAZY windy that day...I think one of the windiest I have ever shot it.  If he was a girl, we would have rescheduled, but Sam trooped on and we made it work.

Sam graduates this week from Lovejoy High School and we wish him the best as he goes on to college in the fall!
