Wardrobe Wednesday - The Color of Teal! {McKinney Wedding Photographer}

So, you are getting married and want to have fabulous engagement photos?  After you have secured that amazing photographer (hopefully us :-)), and picked the location that inspires you, the most important thing you can do is choose your outfits.  Often, couples will show up in something really cool and trendy - cute in person but sometimes not the best choice for photography.  When choosing your outfits, you don't want to wear anything that will draw attention away from you and your forever love.  Bright whites, heavy prints (especially if both of you are wearing a print), and bold color blocking will draw attention to your clothes and away from your faces and ultimately your connection.

You can stay trendy and still keep the focus on you!  Here are a couple of suggestions for these crazy fluctuating temperatures as winter fades into spring....

Ah, teal both bright and melancholy, energetic yet relaxed. This popular color looks fabulous in front of the lens, especially set against cloudy skies and barely emerging leaves. It also looks fabulous on just about everybody, making it a wonderful choice as the star of your outfit.

Sheepskin - Warm, comfortable, subtle sheepskin evokes the best part of cooler weather. Incorporating sand tones into your wardrobe adds a calming, natural touch. Sheepskin accents like boots and slippers provide wonderful texture to your images and keep your toes toasty!

Congratulations on your engagement and enjoy your pictures!

Anticipatating the Wedding!!! {McKinney Wedding Photographer}

The wedding is in September - can't wait!  This couple is so fun and sweet and gorgeous together.  We had a great time at the engagement session.  It is amazing to me how they can look so fresh when it was so hot :-)

McKinney Boyd Senior in Downtown McKinney {McKinney Senior Photography}

Downtown McKinney is just a fabulous place for senior sessions.  It takes on a completely different look with senior guys than senior girls.  Loved this session with Austin.  What a great laid back guy!

Fun Sisters in Downtown McKinney {McKinney, Frisco Photographer}

Have you ever seen the movie "Holiday Inn"?  There is a scene at the beginning of the movie where two sisters do a musical number all about sisters.  If you haven't seen it and you are a sister, you simply must watch it.  Maybe it is me being nostalgic, but that song kept going through my head during this photo shoot.  My sister and I have sung it to each other many times through the years and it somehow just sticks. Anyway, I had a great time with these sisters last week.  I bet growing up in their home was crazy with 4 girls that close in age, but as adults, sisters are the best friend you can have!

And they convinced mom to jump in one picture.  So glad they did!

Urban Family Portraits {McKinney Photographer}

When you look at a city, it is like looking at the hopes, aspirations, and pride of everyone who built it" ~Hugh Jacobson

I find this to be true, especially when I visit McKinney's fabulous historic downtown for our Urban Family Portrait sessions. From the historic architecture, to the eclectic back alleys, there is so much for the eye to take in. It is always a great backdrop for a family portrait. Whether you want to keep it casual or dress to the nines, this session is a fun memory that produces the treasure of a lifetime.

Now booking June and July sessions
Weekdays at 9am, 5pm, and 6pm.  Saturdays at 9am and 4pm

Special session fee pricing through July 8:

Downtown McKinney Senior Pictures - Getting Close!

Meet Ty - a senior at McKinney High School.  I met Ty last week in Downtown McKinney for his senior pictures.  This is a great time of year to do senior pictures as the anticipation of graduation is right around the corner.  Ty's mom wanted to capture all of the things that defined Ty as a young man - he is an Eagle Scout, plays saxophone in the McKinney High "Royal Pride" band, and he also plays guitar.  We got a lot of different looks in a one hour session!  Here are a few of my favorites from the afternoon...

Downtown McKinney Senior Pictures - A Liberty High School Senior

Meet Cale - Class of 2011 from Liberty High School.  I love doing senior pictures for students that attend Liberty as that is where my boys would have attended had we not moved to McKinney.  Great school!  Cale met me downtown for pictures last week.  What a great guy and a great mom!  Mom let him pick out what he wanted to wear and let him do his own thing with his pictures.  You gotta love a mom that is secure enough to trust her kid's senior pictures into their hands! We had a good time and got some really fun and cool pictures.  I picked more than I normally do for a sneak peek - but I just couldn't narrow down my favorites!

Downtown McKinney Senior Pictures - Cute and Stylin'!

I met Natalie in Downtown McKinney last week for her senior pictures.  She was a photographer's dream come true.  Not only is she beautiful, she opened up the hatch of the SUV and it was FILLED with clothes, jewelry and shoes!  I swear I heard the angels singing.  She had more cute outfits than I knew what to do with!  Here are some of my favorites from the afternoon...

Did I mention she was tons of fun?

I loved this picture from the wheat field in her Prom dress and Prom Queen crown!  I goes with the picture I posted last week on the blog.  Don't forget to check out it out if you didn't see it.

Thanks Natalie for such a fun session. Enjoy the last few weeks of your senior year!

Yes...a guy can look cool in the Bluebonnets! {McKinney Child Photographer}

So my boys think Bluebonnet pictures are really uncool.  I can't wait to show them this picture.  Chris was laid back and cool about having his picture done in the wildflowers.  Of course...look at the 2nd picture.  He knew the total guy factor picture was about to take place next!

An Evening in the Texas Bluebonnets {McKinney Family Photographer}

I was not so sure how this session would go.  We were not able to work it out for the H. Family to do sessions on the ranch I used this year for Bluebonnet pictures.  Mom promised me the flowers were awesome at this location.  I just was not convinced.  Last year I had used this location and was really unhappy with the pictures.  Well I have never been happier to be wrong.  Mom had found a slightly different location than I used last year and mixed in the Bluebonnets were tons of gorgeous red Poppies.  HEAVEN!!!!  I have loved editing these photos.  Such cute little kiddos and such a beautiful setting.  Thanks Mom H. for insisting on this location - I will trust you in the future :-)

Now...for some of my favorites from the evening....

Downtown McKinney - Model for a Day! {McKinney Child Photographer}

Meet Miss G.  One word for her: giggles!  She has to be one of the easiest children I have ever photographed.  She posed for me and giggled.  She changed outfits and giggled.  She spun in circles for me and giggled.  What an amazingly happy little girl.  Here are a few of my favorites from her session in downtown McKinney last week...
